PFM-Vertex Joint Venture had the privilege of collaborating with the Port Authority of Guam (PAG) on the Replacement of the Booths Project, a Design-Build initiative that involves the careful removal and replacement of three existing metal gate booth structures with three new, extended-length gate booths. Located within the Port Authority of Guam, this project is of strategic significance to the smooth operation of Guam's logistical systems, playing a vital role in the region's economic stability. As the central hub for the importation of consumer goods on Guam, PAG is responsible for ensuring that ocean vessels are serviced comprehensively, and that imported goods are expedited with maximum efficiency. The gate booths serve as the primary access points for all commodities entering and leaving the port, making them essential to the commerce and trade of Guam.
Despite the project's relatively smaller scale compared to other ongoing construction initiatives, PFM-Vertex JV demonstrated innovation in its approach to scheduling. We leveraged our extensive expertise in structural work to enhance the project's efficiency. A key element of our strategy was the development of a 3-week look-ahead schedule, a tool that ensured all project stakeholders—ranging from the project team to external contractors—were well-informed and aligned with the project's timeline. By utilizing Gantt charts, we provided a visual representation of the project schedule, making it easier for all involved parties to track sequencing and critical milestones. While the use of such tools is standard in construction management, PFM-Vertex JV applied them in a novel way, demonstrating our commitment to precision, efficiency, and continuous improvement. This innovative scheduling approach not only facilitated smoother project execution but also highlighted our growing expertise in managing structural projects, regardless of size.
