After many years, the rebuilding and renovation of Guam Community College's (GCC) B Building is finally complete. Staff, supporters, and dignitaries were invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate its completion.

GCC President Mary Okada made opening remarks stating, "We are really humbled by the show of support this morning for the ribbon cutting ceremony for Building B, the newest renovated and expanded building for the Guam Community College." She referred to Building B as "the main artery for access and entrance to our beautiful campus."
Lieutenant Governor Joshua Tenorio also spoke, sharing his personal experiences of being a student at GCC. He stated that it was through the support he received at the old building that helped him obtain his first job, an accounting clerk at Marianas Electronics.

The first floor of the new Building B consists of the student support services, several office spaces and counters, and the campus fire alarm center. The second floor contains and outdoor lounge as well as the new computer laboratory.
Project manager and coordinator Cyril Amaranto said this the experience of working on the project helped him learn more about his craft. He said, "Our field, construction, it has these certain technicalities that sometimes gets a little bit over that what we expected. So it motivates me to keep on learning."
Cyril also mentioned that one of the biggest challenges in the completion of the project involved Typhoon Mawar in 2023. Cyril and his team had to prepare for the typhoon, deal with its aftermath, and essentially restart with the limited resources and materials as the typhoon arrived in an early part of the construction phase.
With the completion of this project, Mary Okada expressed her gratitude to everyone involved in this project at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. "This team here at GCC focuses on the tasks at hand," she stated, "behind their transformational model of students first, mission always."
