On August 12, 2026, The University of Guam celebrated the completion of the Margaret Perez Hattori-Uchiha School of Health & Nursing Hub with a ribbon cutting ceremony, commemorating and honoring the legacy of its namesake, Dr. Margaret Perez Hattori-Uchiha. This annex building will further the mission of Dr. Hattori-Uchima, and provide a new foundation for health & nursing students–present and future–as it expands the island and region’s capacity to improve health care.

PFM President, Rob Salas II was invited to make a speech addressing the new building and what it will bring for the university in the coming years. “A building without purpose is just a shell. All buildings, no matter how beautiful,” Salas said, “the design, no matter how immaculate the concept, at the end of the day, it's going to have a foundation, it's going to have a slab, it's going to have walls and ceilings.” He further said that a building without a purpose is only a shell and that “ it's the people that are going to give it life.”
